How do you manage your firm’s construction details?
Artifact harvests the details already in your past projects, from Revit models, AutoCAD drawings, and PDF sets, into one searchable library. Your team finds precedent in seconds, by keyword or by asking AI, curates standards into collections, reviews them with markups and version history, and pulls approved details straight into Revit.

Where do the details come from?
From drawings you’ve already produced, in Revit, AutoCAD, or PDF. Artifact indexes every annotation and parameter in them, so there’s no tagging to do: a detail is searchable by everything on it the moment it’s harvested.
- Your storage: connect Autodesk Forma, BIM 360, or any cloud storage your firm uses, or upload straight from a local drive.
- You choose what gets harvested. Artifact has the most flexible harvesting configuration: admins can harvest images only, Revit content, a single print set, or specific properties, and those are only examples. If you need something else harvested, we’ll configure it.
How does a designer or engineer find the right detail?
They type what they’re looking for. Search “parapet at CMU wall” and Artifact returns matching details from every harvested project, along with the sheet and project each one came from.
- Every annotation and parameter is searchable, so a match on a note inside the detail counts, not just its title.
- Filter by project, view type, or Revit version, or limit results to one project or sheet.
- Each detail lists its keynotes and the families it uses.
- Open the sheet in the Project Viewer to see the detail in its drawing set, with hyperlinked callouts.
Can you search and query your details with AI?
Yes, and it goes beyond search. AI can query your data for insights that combine what’s in your details with what Artifact knows about your projects, like “Show me metal panel details from projects located in the Northeast US.” Artifact MCP server connects Claude, Codex, or any MCP-compatible assistant to your library through a read-only connection your admins control.
How do you turn precedent into a standard library?
Collect, review, and version. Artifact gives you the tools to build one library or many, from your standards project or from the best of your project work.
- Collections and library tags organize standards. Share a collection with the whole team and it’s pinned for everyone.
- Markups and comments support QA/QC and standards review.
- Likes let practitioners endorse the details they trust.
- Version history tracks how each standard detail changes over time.
How do details get into Revit, and back out again?
Through the Artifact Revit add-in. Pull a detail into your project in one click, or edit a standard in Revit and push it back to Artifact as a new version.
Who controls what gets reused?
Your admins. Roles and per-user overrides decide who can download .rvt files, push to Revit, manage collections, and mark up details.
What do designers say about it?
Artifact saves a lot of time trying to find precedent details. I mention it every time I am on a project that starts CDs. Such a good time save and learning tool.
I can see this being helpful to learn details too. Often PAs will tell you to revise a detail per some markups, but you don't always grasp what they are getting at. This can be a good tool for younger designers to learn and see good examples for reference.
It informs my detail designs and reduces my liability.
